Kizuna: Connecting Little Tokyo's Past and Present

Thanks to generous funding from Sasakawa USA and USJETAA, JETAA Southern California and Arizona is proud to present an informational webinar highlighting Los Angeles' own Little Tokyo community. Our panelists will share an overview of Little Tokyo's history, its contributions to U.S-Japan relations, and its response to the pandemic including initiatives and community support.

This event will take place on February 10th from 6 - 7:30 pm.

Scott Oshima (they/them) is the Director of the Sustainable Little Tokyo Program at Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC), one of the largest ethnic arts and cultural centers of its kind in the United States. A hub for Japanese and Japanese American arts and culture and a community gathering place for the diverse voices it inspires – JACCC connects traditional and contemporary; community participants and creative professionals; Southern California and the world beyond.

Megan Teramoto (she/her) is a Small Business Counselor at Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC), whose mission is to provide a comprehensive array of social welfare and community development services to assist low income individuals and other persons in need, contribute to community revitalization and cultural preservation in Little Tokyo and among the broader Japanese community in the Southland, and to provide such resources to neighboring Asian Pacific Islander and other low income communities.

Kristin Fukushima (she/her) is the Managing Director of the Little Tokyo Community Council, the nonprofit community coalition of businesses, residents, nonprofits, and other vested stakeholders, representing the interests of the Little Tokyo community. LTCC advocates on behalf of the Little Tokyo community, and provides the opportunity for the community to speak effectively with one voice for the best interests and betterment of Little Tokyo.
